The recommended physical activity levels for early years.
Establishing high levels of physical activity in early childhood is of importance as this has been associated with greater participation in physical activity in later life.
Babies and young children are often left sitting for long periods of time, leading to health issues in the future. The first 5 years of life are critical for functional movement, as this is the time in life where we learn the most physical skills. It is therefore essential that under 5s participate in physical activity every day, and reduce the amount of time spent sitting.
